St-Bernard dog

A St Bernard dog of bronze decorates the Hendrikaplein. It refers to the patron saint from Nieuwpoort-Bad and gets company of several living dogs of the same sort every year at the end of August during the dazzling and attractive Sint Bernard festivities.
This work of art of 1,20 x 0,90 m, made by Monique Mol from Beauvoorde, was unveiled on 21st August 1998. “Vainqueur van ’t Roodhuis” is the name of the dog (from De Panne) used as a model for this statue.
