Simli district
This area has been bought in 1928 from Henri Crombez by the n.v. Simli (société immobilière et mobilière du Littoral) with head office in 55 Rue Marie-Thérèse, Brussels (all monolingual French) and Edmond Kamp acted as one of the most important managers; in the "Avenue Artan" there was a local "bureau de vente"; in 1955 this company took care of the necessary fencing and planting, in order to proceed with the allotment and the construction of roads so that a lot of buying people were attracted to our "Nieuport-Dunes". A part of this area was transformed into a residential villa area; the most western part however, i.e. about 30 ha limited by the Kinderlaan, the Louisweg, the G. Rodenbach- and the Elisalaan was marked as N-area on the district plan.
