Reservoir
In the western part of the district and on the right bank of the IJzer is a water reservoir.
In the past one could find here the exploitation pits of a brick works and a sand pit used for the construction of the E40-motorway. The bordering area on the left bank of the IJzer is intended for a recreational function and contains the camping sites of the Kompas-camping Nieuwpoort. Thus, this small polder village has been integrated on a large-scale into the tourist activities of Nieuwpoort, more specific the polyvalent water recreation and the staying tourism as well as the river tourism. Moreover, there is a landing capacity for approx. 200 boats under the supervision of the VVW Westhoek.
