Kaaiplein

Over the last years, the city has been renovating the Kaaiplein. Since April 2009, most of the work is done and the result is getting more and more obvious.

The square alongside the waterfront, with some 70 fountains and the restored monument to the Fishermen, but also the other end of the square, with the fish shops and restaurants, invite to walk and to stroll, but also to relax on one of the terraces.

Local traffic and through traffic are separated from each other, and lorries are kept away from the new square. The tramway company will build a new and modern station. This will make the place even more attractif and should help us to forget the old image of this congested traffic junction.

The attractif square will from now onwards be a valuable missing link between the walking promenade alongside the waterfront and the city, and a perfect gateway to the historical part of town.
