In 1996 was started with the layout of the idea gardens on one of the fields of grass in the 'Keunepark' (now called Prince Mauritspark). Altogether 18 gardens were developed covering a total surface of 1,2 ha and all with the same rectangular form of 15 m long by 8 m width, but different with regard to shaping, use of materials and planting. By this, every little garden radiates an own atmosphere.
All gardens are combined with each other by means of a footpath; along this track sitting areas, lawns, planting and ponds offer a welcome change.
During layout and management the development and the conservation of the spontaneous vegetation are considered as well so that in this manner the visitor gets acquainted with the sometimes amazing beauty of our own flora, sometimes being designated too fast as 'weed'. Here, the ordinary hiker will certainly enjoy a moment of rest, while in this calm area the garden friend will certainly find one or more ideas to try out in his own garden.
